Featuring exquisite artisan stitching that is evenly spaced and expertly made. 

Using panels of black to emphasise the patchwork creation of one side of the vintage Kantha Quilt.

This is a vintage Kantha quilt made from upcycled sari cotton from the 1970's. It takes many days to complete just one throw blanket.
They are made by stitching around 4 to 5 layers of sari cotton together into one piece.
This practice started out as a way to reuse old saris to sit on, wrap baby in, or stay warm.
Nowadays they are treasured hand-stitched items, and each one is unique.
This quilt is in very good condition and has beautiful even stitching.
Because of the age of the cloth, you may find small patches or holes through one layer.
Some also have marks or stains evident, and this forms part of the craft and is not seen as a fault in any way.

Some Vintage Kantha Quilts are collector's items and are becoming very valuable.
We love them as they are reusing already existing fabric, rather than creating new textiles.
